Write for us
Clear Sports Review welcomes pitches that help readers understand how a sport works. We are interested in focused, evergreen ideas that explain a rule, tactic, role, format or pattern in plain English without relying on a current result.
What makes a good pitch
Send one clear subject, the reader question it answers and a short description of your proposed explanation. Strong ideas have a distinct focus, use familiar examples thoughtfully and make room for exceptions where needed. We favour pieces a general reader can follow without specialist knowledge.
Scope and approach
We do not seek match predictions, unsupported performance claims or instructions that depend on local rules being the same everywhere. Explain technical terms when they first appear, distinguish fact from interpretation and keep the article centred on one useful idea.
How to send a proposal
Send your pitch through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a brief outline and any relevant background about the proposed subject. Please send a proposal rather than a full draft unless one has been requested.
Review and edits
A proposal may be declined, reshaped or held for consideration. If an idea is a fit, the scope and editing approach can be discussed before a draft is prepared. Sending a pitch does not guarantee publication.
A game is easier to follow when you know what to notice.
Clear Sports Review breaks down the rules and decisions behind sport, one idea at a time. No specialist knowledge needed; just bring your curiosity.
